The BYU-Hawaii Men's Soccer team is in its 5th year of existence as a NCAA
Division two team. The team's first year of NCAA competition began back in
1998 under Coach Bob Barry and the first year team went 10-5 (6-5) overall.
After the 2001 season however, when local rivals HPU dropped soccer for water
polo, then the Seasiders soccer team followed suit and disbanded temporarily,
before being brought back as an official conference sport in 2006. Local
soccer players were overjoyed that the soccer program was coming back, which
allows
for local and worldwide male soccer hopefuls the opportunity to compete at
the college level for men's soccer once again in Hawaii.

Head Coach Jeff Miller was the former team captain and leader for the original
men's team back in 1998 as he was the teams starting goal keeper. The BYU Hawaii
Soccer team compete's at the NCAA Division two level playing a challenging
schedule of local and nation wide teams. Recently the men's team off to a stellar
start for this season and a 4-1 record as of mid September, earned their first
ever region ranking coming in ranked 9th in the NSCAA west coast coaches poll.

This year's team boasts players who's soccer and ethnic backgrounds represent
players from 7 nations, and from 8 states from across the country. The team's
unique blend of soccer culture's is coming together nicely to form a tight
knit team of talented collegiate athletes.
