Seasiders Claim First

Waipahu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s cross country team placed six runners in the top ten to claim first place team honors today at the Chaminade Invitational.  The Seasiders totaled 24 points to easily out-pace Hawaii Pacific (47) for the team title in the three-team meet.

Matt Belliston covered the 4.7 mile course in 24:24 to finish second overall and lead the Seasider contingent.  Teammate Justin Royer claimed third in 24:27 and Spencer Deavila took fourth in 24:29.  Yuki Kitihara claimed seventh place with a time of 24:58 and James Clay took eighth in 25:10 to round out the team scoring for the Seasiders.  Nick Jones finished ninth for BYU-Hawaii in 25:15, Jacob Valeriano took 11th in 25:20, Daniel Bridge took 13th in 26:50, Luke Graesser took 17th in 28:07, Michael Gulden took 18th in 28:43, and Kaleb Martin took 20th in 29:32.

Hawaii Pacific took second place in the team scoring and Chaminade finished third with 77.

The Seasiders will compete at the Pacific West Conference Championships on Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona at 8:00 am MST.
