Hilo, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s cross country team placed six runners in the top ten to claim first place team honors today at the UH-Hilo Invitational. The Seasiders totaled 19 points to easily out-pace Alaska-Fairbanks (55) for the team title.
Spencer Deavila covered the four-mile course in 20:51 to finish first overall and lead the Seasider contingent. Teammate Justin Royer claimed second in 21:10 and Daniel Bridge took third in 21:12. Nick Jones finished fifth for BYU-Hawaii in 21:24 and Matt Belliston rounded out the team scoring with an eighth-place time of 21:52. Yuki Kitihara also finished the race for the Seasiders, placing tenth in 21:55.
Hawaii Pacific took third place in the team scoring with 64 points and Chaminade finished fourth with 91.
The Seasiders will compete against Chaminade in Laie on Saturday at 8:00 am.
