Men Suffer First Defeat of Season

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season today, losing 5-0 to conference leader Hawaii Pacific in Pacific West Conference play.  The Seasiders could get nothing going offensively, managing just three shots in the game, and could keep the Sea Warriors out of the net as Hawaii Pacific scored five times on just six shots on goal.

Conference scoring lead Chance Bukoski scored the only goal of the opening half in the 38th minute and added his tenth goal of the season early in the second half.  The Sea Warriors also got two goals from Truls Lystad and one from Kainoa Kahui.  The Seasiders got a shot from Eric Lowe and shots on goal by Kevin Fronk and Kyle Oertel, all coming in the second half, as they fell to 5-1-1 for the season and 1-1-1 in the PacWest.

Hawaii Pacific, now 8-2 for the year and 5-1 in the conference, held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks and a 15-3 advantage in shots in the game.

BYU–Hawaii will be in action again on Wednesday against Simon Fraser in Waipio, Hawaii at 3:00 pm in a non-conference match.
