Men Win Invitational

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s cross country team placed seven runners in the top ten to claim first place team honors today at the Brigham Young University Hawaii Invitational.  The Seasiders totaled 22 points to out-pace Hawaii Pacific (48) and Chaminade (84) in the three-team meet.

Spencer Deavila covered the 8K course in 26:58 to finish second overall and lead the Seasider contingent.  Teammate Matt Belliston finished third in 27:00 and Nick Jones followed him in fourth place with a time of 27:04.  Justin Royer claimed sixth place for BYU-Hawaii in 27:40 while Yuki Kitahara rounded out the scoring for the Seasiders with a time of 27:44 for seventh place overall.

Other Seasider runners to finish the race included Daniel Bridge (8th, 28:16), Jacob Valeriano (9th, 28:26), James Clay (11th, 28:37), Kaleb Martin (19th, 31:15), Matthew Roberts (20th, 32:43), and Michael Gulden (21st, 32:44).

Hawaii Pacific’s Dany Malley won the individual title with a time of 26:44.

The Seasiders will compete on October 8th at the UH-Hilo Invitational in Hilo at 8:00 am.
