Seasiders Down Nanooks Again
Anchorage, AK—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team defeated Alaska-Fairbanks tonight for the second time in three nights, 61-48, in Anchorage, Alaska as part of the A T & T Classic. The Seasiders, now 4-3 for the year, opened up a 32-21 halftime lead and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half.
Senior Mahina Gago scored 14 points to lead the Seasiders and also pulled down five rebounds. For her efforts in the three-day tournament she was named to the All-Tournament team for the tournament. Lindsey Sundin came off the bench to score 11 points and grab six rebounds while Felisita Ika, Losaline Faka’osi, and Richelle Fenenbock each tallied seven points in the win.
Lakeshia Levi scored 16 points to lead Alaska-Fairbanks, now 1-8 for the year. No other Nanook player reached double figures in the game.
BYU–Hawaii will next face Chaminade on Tuesday in Honolulu at 5:30 pm HST.
