BYUH Falls to HPU
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team lost to Hawaii Pacific tonight, 74-63, in a non-conference game as part of the Hawaii DII Tournament taking place in Laie. The Seasiders got off to a slow start, trailing 34-11 late in the first half, and never recovered in falling to 1-1 for the season.
The Seasiders trailed 44-25 at the half and Hawaii Pacific pushed the lead to 28 points with 11 minutes to play before BYU–Hawaii rallied to close the gap. But the lead was simply too large for the Seasiders to overcome.
Junior Richelle Fenenbock came off the bench to score 30 points for the Seasiders as the reserves out-scored the starters 38-25 for BYU–Hawaii. Fenenbock hit 4-6 from three-point range and also handed out three assists, grabbed three rebounds, and made two steals. Madison Kite score 12 points and led BYU–Hawaii with seven rebounds. Dara Tompkison tallied eight points and had four assists while Lindsey Sundin came off the bench to grab six rebounds and score four points.
Tiffany Wilson scored 18 points and Jazzmin Awa-Williams 17 to lead Hawaii Pacific, now 2-2 for the season. The Sea Warriors shot a sizzling 64.5 percent from the floor in the first half and finished the game at 58.9 percent from the field.
BYU–Hawaii will next face the University of Hawaii on December 4th at 4:00 pm in the Hukilau Invitational in Laie.
