Seasiders Drop Finale
Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team lost at home tonight in their final match of the season, falling to Hawaii Pacific 25-19, 25-22, 25-20 in a Pacific West Conference match. Following the match the Seasiders honored their lone senior, outside hitter Ane Vea with a courtside celebration.
Losaline Faka’osi knocked down 11 kills for the Seasiders, who finished the season 13-14 overall and 9-7 in the PacWest, and also came up with 16 digs. Nobuko Kotoyori made 22 digs to lead the team and Hannah Wilkinson put up four blocks to go with five kills. Vea put down eight kills in her final match as a Seasider. Camille Soto, although only a junior, will be graduating early in April and also played her final match as a Seasider, coming up with 11 assists and five digs for BYU–Hawaii.
Kelly Balanay had 13 kills and Julia Gruszecka 12 to lead Hawaii Pacific, now 13-11 for the season and 10-5 in the PacWest. Kyra Pelayo had 20 digs for the Sea Warriors.
