Seasiders Second at PacWest
San Francisco, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s cross country team finished in second place today at the Pacific West Conference Championships held at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The Seasiders finished with 51 points to trail Academy of Art and its bevy of Kenyan runners by 31 points.
BYU–Hawaii’s Brendan McMaster finished the 8K course in 26:09 to take third place individually and lead the Seasiders. Spencer Deavila clocked a 26:10 for fifth place and Luke Graesser cracked the top ten in tenth place with a time of 26:41. Brandon Krout followed him in 11th place in 26:49 and Matthew Gulden rounded out the team scoring for the Seasiders with a 22nd-place finish in 27:21. Ryan Belliston also finished the race for BYU–Hawaii, finishing 32nd in 28:49.
By finishing in the top seven, McMaster and Deavila were awarded First Team All-Conference honors. Graesser and Krout picked up Second Team honors for the Seasiders.
Academy of Art’s Amos Maru won the individual title in 25:17 and the Urban Knights finished with 20 team points. Only the two Seasiders, McMaster and Deavila prevented the Urban Knights from a perfect team score.
Hawaii Pacific took third with 76 points, followed by UH-Hilo with 97, Notre Dame de Namur with 130, Grand Canyon with 133, and Chaminade with 177.
