Seasiders Bounce Penguins
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team defeated Dominican University of California today 3-0 in a Pacific West Conference match. The win improved the Seasiders’ record to 5-7-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the conference.
Jared Trussell scored to first half goals to stake the Seasiders to a 2-0 lead at the break and Adam Maciejewski added an insurance goal in the second half. BYU–Hawaii goalie Cory Cosgrave saved five shots to record the shutout.
Trussell put in a shot from 18 yards out following a feed from Sam Akinaka in the 33rd minute to put BYU–Hawaii on top for good. He headed in a rebound in the 44th minute to move the score to 2-0. Maciejewski took a pass from Trussell in the 90th minute, beat one defender, and kicked one in from 14 yards out to complete the scoring.
BYU–Hawaii will be in action again on Saturday against Notre Dame de Namur at 3:30 pm in Laie in another Pacific West Conference contest.
