Women Keep Winning

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii's women’s cross country team, ranked ninth in the West Region, claimed four of the top five spots today to take the team title at the BYU–Hawaii Invitational.  The win was the Seasiders’ fifth in as many meets this season as they tallied 19 points to best second-place Hawaii Pacific by 29 points.

Lacey Krout won the individual title for the Seasiders in a time of 19:12 over the 5K course.  Katherine Buxton took second in 19:23 and Danielle Anderson finished third in 19:25.  Lacee Kurtz ran 19:29 for fifth place and Allison Shamrell rounded out the team score with an eighth-place finish in a time of 19:32.

Also finishing the race for the Seasiders were Kelsey Elder, 12th in 20:21, Samantha Peavler, 13th in 20:37, and Devin Neff, 17th in 22:11.

Hawaii Pacific took second in the team scoring with 48 points and Chaminade finished third with 102 points.  UH-Hilo competed but only had four runners and did not qualify for the team scoring.

BYU–Hawaii’s next action will come at the BYU–Hawaii Flat 5K Run in Laie on October 24th at 8:00 am HST.
