Seasiders Overcome Argos
Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team defeated Notre Dame de Namur tonight 20-25, 25-19, 25-14, 21-25, 15-5 in a Pacific West Conference match. The Seasiders, now 10-10 for the season and 6-4 in the conference, out-hit the Argonauts .500 to .000 in the decisive fifth game and .184 to .098 for the match to move to .500 for the year.
Sophomore outside hitter Losaline Faka’osi powered her way to 20 kills and came up with 17 digs to spark the win. Ane Vea added 14 kills and four blocks while Tanza Buroker, second nationally in blocks, added to her growing total with seven blocks to go with six kills. Freshman Kylee Nawahine knocked down eight kills and Tara Huckvale and Hannah Wilkinson each had six for the Seasiders. Nobuko Kotoyori came up with 23 digs and Keisha Moeai served three aces in the win. Lacey Laycock and Camille Soto combined for 50 assists with Laycock putting up 29 and Soto 21.
Alayna Galeai and Breanna Morales each had 10 kills to lead Notre Dame de Namur, now 8-16 for the season and 5-5 in the conference. Sharol Mae Kahawaii had 24 digs for the Argonauts in the loss.
The same two teams will meet again tomorrow night in a conference match at 7:30 pm HST in Laie.
