Jia and Chin Claim Doubles Crown

Mobile, AL—Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis players Yuan Jia and Jenny Chin overcame a one-set deficit today at the ITA Small College Championships Division II Tournament, rallying to win the doubles title with a 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-1 victory over the second-seeded team of Tereza Sykorova and Sabina Babaeradova of Francis Marion.  The Seasiders now advance to the Small College Super Bowl which pits the winners from NCAA II, NCAA III, the NAIA, and the junior college ranks.
   
In singles play, second-seed Jia beat Senka Softic of Florida Southern 6-3, 6-1 in a semifinal match of the same tournament to advance to tomorrow morning’s finals.  She will meet top-seeded Sona Novakova of Armstrong Atlantic at 8:30 am EDT for the right to advance to the Small College Super Bowl in singles play as well as doubles.
