Seasiders Win on Big Island
Hilo, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii's women’s cross country team, ranked tenth in the West Region, continued its winning ways today, taking the title at the UH-Hilo Invitational. The win was the Seasiders’ fourth in as many meets this season as they tallied 25 points to best second-place Hawaii Pacific by seven points.
Lacey Krout topped the Seasider contingent with a second place finish in a time of 25:46 over the 6K course. Katherine Buxton placed fourth in 26:01 and Kelsey Elder claimed fifth in 26:06. Allison Shamrell took sixth in 26:10 and Danielle Anderson rounded out the team scoring for BYU–Hawaii with an eighth place finish in a time of 26:25. Lacee Kurtz finished 15th in 27:57 for the Seasiders.
Hawaii Pacific took second in the team scoring with 32 points and Quinn Horochuk of HPU took individual honors in 25:34. UH-Hilo took third place with 82 points and Victor Valley College (CA) finished fourth with 87 points. Chaminade finished fifth with 135 points.
BYU–Hawaii’s next action will come at the BYU–Hawaii Invitational in Laie on October 17th at 8:00 am HST.
