Buroker Blocks Griffins
Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team defeated Westminster College tonight 25-16, 25-27, 25-17, 25-18 in a non-conference match. Junior middle blocker Tanza Buroker put up 10 block assists, one shy of the school record, and one solo block to help the Seasiders improve to 8-10 for the season.
Buroker received plenty of help along the net as the Seasiders recorded 17 team blocks and held the Griffins to a negative .024 hitting percentage for the night. Hannah Wilkinson put up six blocks to go with nine kills and Tara Huckvale added five blocks to go with her five kills. Losaline Faka’osi led the Seasiders with 12 kills and 33 digs and she also contributed to the front wall with four blocks. Kylee Nawahine added nine kills and three blocks while Nobuko Kotoyori notched 27 digs and Camille Soto got 14 digs and 21 assists.
Talita Kresser had 14 kills and five blocks to lead Westminster, now 6-14 for the season. Tahnie Blymiller had 30 digs for the Griffins in the loss.
BYU–Hawaii’s next action will come on Tuesday night against Dominican (CA), a new member of the Pacific West Conference, in a conference match at 7:30 pm HST.
