Seasiders Fall at Dixie

St. George, UT–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team lost to Dixie State tonight, 25-18, 30-28, 25-20, in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Seasiders, playing their fourth road match in five nights, dropped to 7-10 overall and 4-4 in the PacWest with the loss.

After trailing throughout the opening game, the Seasiders bounced back in game two by taking a 20-12 lead and appeared about to knot up the match at a game apiece.  However, the Red Storm battled back to get back into the game.  BYU–Hawaii led 24-21 and had a total of seven game points in the set but could not get the winning score.  Dixie State then closed out the match by breaking away from a 13-13 tie in the third game and holding off the Seasiders.

Sophomore Losaline Faka’osi pounded 11 kills to lead the Seasider attack and also came up with 17 digs.  Hannah Wilkinson knocked down nine kills while Tanza Buroker put away seven kills with no errors to hit .538 and also put up six blocks.  Nobuko Kotoyori led BYU–Hawaii with 19 digs.

Katie Luna and Morgan Hill each had 11 kills to lead Dixie State, now 12-5 for the season and 6-2 in the PacWest.  Jayci Jefress had 24 digs for the Red Storm in the win.

BYU–Hawaii’s next action will come back in Laie on Friday night against Westminster (UT) in a non-conference match at 7:30 pm HST.
