Seasiders Ranked Number Two
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team holds down the number two spot in the Sporting News Pre-Season NCAA II Men’s Basketball Poll released today. The Seasiders, who finished last season ranked third nationally, finished 27-2 last year and won the Pacific West Conference championship before advancing to the NCAA II West Regional Championship game.
The Sporting News also tabbed the Seasiders’ Lucas Alves as a pre-season First Team All-American. Alves, the Daktronics NCAA II National Player of the Year last season, heads a strong returning contingent for the Seasiders this year that includes another Sporting News pre-season honoree, Marques Whippy. Whippy was given a pre-season Honorable Mention All-American nod by the prestigious magazine.
