Seasiders Fall in 2OT

Phoenix, AZ—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team lost a heart-breaker today on the road, falling 1-0 to Grand Canyon in double overtime in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Antelopes’ Kyle Ciliento got the only score of the game in the 103rd minute of the contest.

BYU–Hawaii was unable to generate enough offense to support goalie Cory Cosgrove, who had six saves in the contest but could not stop the winning score as Ciliento put the ball in off his chest from just a yard out.  The Seasiders managed just five shots in the game, none of them coming in the two overtime periods.

Grand Canyon improved to 8-1-1 for the season and 5-0 in the conference with the win while the Seasiders fell to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the PacWest.

BYU–Hawaii’s next game will be on Tuesday against Cal State-Monterey Bay.  Game time for the non-conference contest is set for 1:00 pm in Seaside, California.
