Seasiders Smash Penguins

San Rafael, CA–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team stole a win tonight from Dominican University of California.  The Seasiders swept all three games 25-21, 27-25, 25-20 in the Pacific West Conference match.

The Seasiders scored the first point of the first game and held the lead for the next few points. The Penguins managed to lead for two points until the Seasiders stole and maintained the lead for the remainder of the first game. The Seasiders scored the first few points in the second game as well, but the Penguins held the lead for most of the game until the Seasiders made a comeback to win the second game 27-25. The Seasiders dominated the third game, leading the entire set and winning 25-20. The win takes the Seasiders to 5-8 for the season and 2-2 in the PacWest Conference.

Hannah Wilkinson and Losaline Faka’osi both hammered nine kills against the Penguins.  Faka’osi also led the Seasiders with 21 digs while Wilkinson hit .474 for the match with no errors.  Melanie Manutai came up with ten digs for BYU–Hawaii.

Tianna Tuatagaloa led the Penguins, now 3-12 for the year and 0-4 in the conference, with 14 kills while Gabby Pecora had 11 kills and 17 digs for the team. 

BYU–Hawaii will face Grand Canyon on Friday at 7:00 pm in Phoenix, Arizona.
