BYUH Falls to HPU

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team lost to Hawaii Pacific today, 4-0, in a Pacific West Conference match in Laie.  The Seasiders battled the Sea Warriors evenly for the first half, thanks to some outstanding saves by goalie Cory Cosgrave, but couldn’t stop the Sea Warriors in the second half.

Cosgrove turned away seven Hawaii Pacific shots in the opening period, most of them coming on spectacular saves, to send the teams to halftime tied 0-0.  But Sea Warrior Chance Bukoski scored in the 47th minute to break the tie and went on to score twice more in the second period to lead the Sea Warriors to the win.  Isaiah Guth also scored for Hawaii Pacific.

With the loss, BYU–Hawaii moves to 2-3 for the season and 1-1 in the PacWest while Hawaii Pacific is now 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

The Seasiders will face UH-Hilo on Saturday in Hilo in a Pacific West Conference contest at 1:00 pm.
