Seasiders Fall to Nanooks
Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team won the first game but Alaska-Fairbanks came back to take the next three as the Seasiders fell to the Nanooks tonight 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-18. With the loss, the Seasiders drop to 3-6 for the season while the Nanooks improve to 6-5.
Sophomore Hannah Wilkinson and junior Tanza Buroker each knocked down nine kills to lead the Seasiders. Tara Huckvale and Kristen Hartley each chipped in for seven kills while Buroker and Ane Vea each put up three blocks. Keisha Moeai led the way with 17 digs while Roseanne Vea (14), Camille Soto (13), and Nobuko Kotoyori (10) each reached double figures in digs for the Seasiders. Soto also served three aces in the match.
Megan Thigpen had 25 kills and 23 digs to lead Alaska-Fairbanks while Allison Oddy had 20 digs in the win.
BYU–Hawaii will face undefeated UH-Hilo on Saturday at 7:00 pm in Hilo to open the Pacific West Conference season.
