Seasiders Improve to 3-0
Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team improved to 3-0 for the season tonight with a 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22 win over Cal State-East Bay. The Seasiders completed the Hawaii Invitational Tournament unbeaten to start the season on a positive note.
Sophomore outside hitter Losaline Faka’osi put down 16 kills to lead the BYU–Hawaii attack tonight, and also came up with 18 of the Seasiders’ 76 digs in the match. Tanza Buroker knocked down eight kills while hitting .533 and added four blocks as she played her third straight strong match. Camille Soto came up with 19 digs and Roseanne Vea 11 for the Seasiders. Ane Vea chipped in with six kills and four blocks while Tara Huckvale contributed eight kills and three blocks. Kylee Nawahine notched seven kills and setter Lacey Laycock put up 42 assists and three blocks in the win.
Sukhjit Athwal led Cal State-East Bay, now 0-4, with 23 kills and Kitona Offord had 12. Lauren Massa got 24 digs and Roxanne Neely 17 for the Pioneers.
BYU–Hawaii will travel to Washington for the Central Washington Invitational next. The Seasiders will face Sonoma State on September third at 1:00 pm PDT and Western Washington at 5:00 pm the same day.
