Whitford Receives Academic Honor

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii's women’s cross country runner Amanda Whitford has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team for her performance this past season.  The District covers most of the Western United States.

Whitford, from Pinon Hills, California, won the Pacific West Conference championship last fall and earned All-American honors for her 18th-place finish at the NCAA II National Championships.  She is an elementary education major at BYU–Hawaii with a 3.75 grade point average.  She was also named an All-Academic performer by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association earlier this year.
