Li, Chin Honored
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis players Elwen Li and Jenny Chin have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Second Team for District VIII, which comprises most of the Western United States. The At-Large team contains athletes from several different sports, including tennis, water polo, ice hockey, rifle, fencing, lacrosse, gymnastics, golf, swimming, bowling, skiing, field hockey, and crew.
Li, a sophomore from Chengdu, China, is a biology major with a 3.76 grade point average. This season she helped the Seasiders attain a 27-1 record, a ranking of third nationally, and a trip to the NCAA II National Championships. Li finished the season ranked third nationally in singles with a 22-2 singles record and second nationally in doubles with a 22-1 mark in doubles play.
Chin, a sophomore from Seoul, South Korea, is an exercise and sport science major with a 3.57 grade point average. This season she finished the season ranked 19th nationally in singles with a 22-1 singles record and tenth nationally in doubles with a 27-1 mark in doubles play.
