Alves is West Region Player of the Year
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii junior forward Lucas Alves has been named the Daktronics NCAA II West Region Player of the Year and to the All-Region First Team. The West Region comprises teams from the Pacific West Conference, the California Collegiate Athletic Association, and the Great Northwest Conference.
Alves, from Casa Branca, Brazil, leads the PacWest in scoring at 19.7 points per game. He also averages 7.9 rebounds per game and shoots 53.6 percent from the field. He was named PacWest Player of the Week three times this season.
Alves also made the Daktronics All-Region First Team last season. Players selected to the region first team will now be listed on the Daktronics All-American national ballot. The All-American team will be announced later this month.
