All-Academic Team Award for Men's Cross Country Team
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s cross country team has been honored as an All-Academic Team by U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Seasiders received the honor for the second year in a row and are one of only two Pacific West Conference teams to be honored by the coaches association.
To qualify for All-Academic Team honors, every grade for each athlete on the team is added together and divided by the total combined number of semester hours completed by the team members. The resultant team grade point average must be over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the team to be honored. This year’s BYU–Hawaii men’s cross country team had a cumulative team GPA of 3.310 which was best in the PacWest Conference and tied for 12th best in the nation among NCAA II schools.
Team members included in the honor are Thomas Puzey, who was also named an individual All-Academic performer earlier this week, Matthew Belliston, Michael Gulden, Jonathan Hooke, Thomas Jordan, Brandon Krout, Brendan McMaster, Chad Kawika Nahoolewa, Aaron Noltemeyer, and Ryan Thomas
