Puzey Gets Academic Honor
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Thomas Rivers Puzey has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Cross Country All-Academic list. Puzey, an All-Pacific West Conference performer from Hermiston, Oregon, finished 30th in the NCAA II West Regional Championships last fall for the Seasiders.
To qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least 12 semester/quarter hours through the semester of competition at the institution to be eligible. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have placed in the top 30% of the total number of athletes eligible to compete at the respective regional championships, or in the top 50% of the field at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.
Puzey is a junior majoring in exercise and sport science at BYU–Hawaii. He is one of only two PacWest conference runners to receive men’s All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA.
