BYUH Still Tops in Region
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team held fast to the top spot in the NCAA II West Regional poll released today by the NCAA. The Seasiders, 17-1 for the season and ranked third nationally in the coach’s poll, are undefeated at 11-0 in the West Region, although this week’s win against UH-Hilo was not included in the records used for the voting. The regional poll ultimately determines which teams make the post-season and where the regional tournament will be played. The top eight teams in the region at the end of the season will get invitations to the regional and the host team will be the highest ranked team that puts in an acceptable bid to host the tournament.
The Seasiders, who can match the longest winning streak in school history with one more win, will face UH-Hilo tonight in Hilo in a non-conference matchup set to begin at 7:30 pm.
