Alves Honored by PacWest
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii junior forward Lucas Alves has been named the Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 17-23. Alves led the Seasiders to two victories over defending national champion Winona State during the week and helped the Seasiders jump eight spots in the national rankings from 23rd to 15th.
Alves, from Casa Branca, Brazil, averaged 27 points per game and 10.5 rebounds in the two games against the battle-toughened Warriors. He shot 61.3 percent from the field in the two contests, making 19 of 31 shots from the floor. He also hit 14-18 from the free throw line and blocked three shots for the week.
