Volleyball Ends Season in NCAA Tourney 

San Bernardino, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball season came to an abrupt end tonight as the Seasiders were defeated in the opening round of the NCAA II West Regional Tournament by the host team, second-ranked Cal State-San Bernardino, 3-0.  The host Coyotes dominated the Seasiders statistically, hitting .506 for the match with only five hitting errors on the night to improve to 26-3 for the season while BYU–Hawaii ends the year at 16-9.

BYU–Hawaii, the champions of the Pacific West Conference, fell behind early in each game of the match and could never catch up against the Coyotes, who played nearly a flawless match with just one service error to go with the five hitting errors.

Freshman Losaline Faka’osi knocked down nine kills to lead the Seasiders.  Faylynn Merrick, Agnes Tuilevuka, and Ane Vea each added five kills and Vea hit .308 for the match.  Freshman Melanie Manutai got eight digs to lead the defense and Tanza Buroker put up two blocks for the Seasiders.  Senior LeeAnn Mapu put up 16 assists and freshman Lacey Laycock came off the bench to get nine assists for BYU–Hawaii.

Sara Rice knocked down 12 kills with no errors and hit .632 to lead Cal State-San Bernardino.  Jessica Granados added 11 kills and .429 percentage to the Coyote’s attack.  Meghan Haas got 13 digs in the win.
