Buroker Honored

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii junior middle blocker Tanza Buroker for the women’s volleyball team was honored by the NCAA Division II Daktronics West Region Volleyball, earning Second-Team all region accolades.

Faka'osi and Buroker Honored

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii sophomore outside hitter Losaline Faka’osi was named to the Pacific West Conference All-Conference First Team for her play this past season.  Junior middle blocker Tanza Buroker was also honored by the conference, earning Second-Team accolades.

Seasiders Drop Finale

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team lost at home tonight in their final match of the season, falling to Hawaii Pacific 25-19, 25-22, 25-20 in a Pacific West Conference match.  Following the match the Seasiders honored their lone senior, outside hitter Ane Vea with a courtside celebration.

Swords Stop Seasiders

Honolulu, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team lost a tough match on the road tonight falling 19-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23, 15-13 to Chaminade in Pacific West Conference action.  The loss relegated the Seasiders to no better than a fourth-place finish in the PacWest.

Buroker Sets Record as Seasiders Scare Vulcans

Laie, HI–Junior middle blocker Tanza Buroker set a new school record for block assists as the Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team put a scare into 16th-ranked UH-Hilo tonight before falling 25-22, 22-25, 29-27, 25-20 in Pacific West Conference action.  Buroker put up 12 block assists against the PacWest champions as the Seasiders dropped to 13-12 for the season and 9-5 in the conference.

Seasiders Fall to DI Power Hawaii

Honolulu, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team took on the third-ranked team in Division I tonight and the University of Hawaii swept the Seasiders 25-14, 25-11, 25-17 in a non-conference match.  BYU–Hawaii, playing before a crowd of nearly 7,000, got out-hit .387 to .024 in falling to 13-11 for the season while Hawaii improved to 18-2.

Seasiders Sweep Knights Again

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team swept Academy of Art tonight, for the second night in a row, 25-20, 25-19, 31-29 in a Pacific West Conference match.  Just as they did last night the Seasiders out-hit and out-blocked the taller Urban Knights as they improved to 13-10 for the season and 9-4 in the conference.

Seasiders Topple Urban Knights

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team swept Academy of Art tonight 29-27, 25-15, 25-19 in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Seasiders out-hit and out-blocked the taller Urban Knights to improve to 12-10 for the season and 8-4 in the conference.

Faka'osi Gets Player of the Week

Laie, HI–Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Losaline Faka’osi has been named the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance in three conference matches last week.  Faka’osi led the Seasiders to a win over Dominican and a pair of wins over Notre Dame de Namur to become the first Seasider to earn the honor this season.

Seasiders Sink Argonauts Again

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team defeated Notre Dame de Namur for the second night in a row tonight 25-23, 25-19, 24-26, 25-19 in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Seasiders, now 11-10 for the season and 7-4 in the conference, moved back over the .500 mark for the first time since early in the season with the win.

Seasiders Overcome Argos

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team defeated Notre Dame de Namur tonight 20-25, 25-19, 25-14, 21-25, 15-5 in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Seasiders, now 10-10 for the season and 6-4 in the conference, out-hit the Argonauts .500 to .000 in the decisive fifth game and .184 to .098 for the match to move to .500 for the year.

Seasiders Sweep Penguins

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team defeated Dominican University of California tonight 25-18, 25-14, 25-17 in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Seasiders out-hit the Penguins .330 to .087 in controlling the match and improving to 9-10 overall and 5-4 in the PacWest.

Buroker Blocks Griffins

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team defeated Westminster College tonight 25-16, 25-27, 25-17, 25-18 in a non-conference match.  Junior middle blocker Tanza Buroker put up 10 block assists, one shy of the school record, and one solo block to help the Seasiders improve to 8-10 for the season.

Seasiders Fall at Dixie

St. George, UT–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team lost to Dixie State tonight, 25-18, 30-28, 25-20, in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Seasiders, playing their fourth road match in five nights, dropped to 7-10 overall and 4-4 in the PacWest with the loss.

Seasiders Hold off Red Storm

St. George, UT–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team defeated Dixie State tonight, 22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 15-9, in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Seasiders, playing their third road match in four nights, improved to 7-9 overall and 4-3 in the PacWest with the win.

Seasiders Fall in Five to Grand Canyon

Phoenix, AZ–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team lost to Grand Canyon tonight, 25-21, 25-18, 22-25, 15-25, 15-13, in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Seasiders staged a strong comeback after being down two sets and also rallied valiantly from a large deficit in the fifth game, but ultimately came up just a bit short.

Seasiders Down Antelopes in Four

Phoenix, AZ–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team defeated Grand Canyon tonight, 25-23, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19, in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Seasiders improved to 6-8 overall and 3-2 in the PacWest with the win while dropping the Antelopes to 9-7 for the season and 0-5 in the conference.

Seasiders Smash Penguins

San Rafael, CA–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team stole a win tonight from Dominican University of California.  The Seasiders swept all three games 25-21, 27-25, 25-20 in the Pacific West Conference match.

Seasiders Lose in Five

Honolulu, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team suffered a tough loss tonight at the hands of Hawaii Pacific in a Pacific West Conference match.  The Sea Warriors prevailed in five games, 16-25, 25-18, 15-25, 25-21, 18-16 despite being out-scored by the Seasiders by six points during the match.

Seasiders Sweep Silverswords

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team got back on the winning track tonight, defeating Chaminade 25-18, 25-23, 26-24 to improve to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in the Pacific West Conference.  The match was carried live worldwide on BYU Television.

Seasiders Drop Close Match

Hilo, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team battled undefeated and nationally-ranked UH-Hilo to a virtual standstill in three straight games but came up short each time as they fell to the 25th-ranked Vulcans 25-22, 25-23, 25-23 tonight on the road.  The match was the Pacific West Conference opener for the Seasiders.

Seasiders Fall to Nanooks

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team won the first game but Alaska-Fairbanks came back to take the next three as the Seasiders fell to the Nanooks tonight 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-18.  With the loss, the Seasiders drop to 3-6 for the season while the Nanooks improve to 6-5.

Seasiders Overtaken by Seawolves

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team took a 2-0 lead tonight over Alaska-Anchorage but failed to hold on as the Seawolves came back to take a 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-10 win over the Seasiders.

Seasiders Fall Short Against Wildcats

Ellensburg, WA–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team battled the host school tonight at the Central Washington Invitational but came up short, losing to Central Washington 23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-21.  The Seasiders, now 3-4 for the season, matched the Wildcats statistically but couldn’t come away with the win.

BYUH Loses to Seattle Pacific

Ellensburg, WA–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team continued to struggle at the Central Washington Invitational today, falling to Seattle Pacific 25-16, 19-25, 25-16, 25-17.  The Seasiders, playing for the second straight match without outside hitter Losaline Faka’osi, hit just .096 as they fell to 3-3 for the season.

BYU-Hawaii Loses to Nationally-Ranked Western Washington

Ellensburg, WA–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team took another loss at the Central Washington Invitational today, falling to nationally-ranked Western Washington. Although it was close, the Seasiders ultimately lost 25-23, 25-23, 25-21.  This loss drops the Seasiders to 3-2 for the season.

Seasiders Fall to Unbeaten Seawolves

Ellensburg, WA–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team got off to a slow start today at the Central Washington Invitational and never recovered as they fell to unbeaten Sonoma State in three games, 25-11, 25-17, 25-13.  The loss drops the Seasiders to 3-1 on the new season.

Seasiders Improve to 3-0

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team improved to 3-0 for the season tonight with a 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22 win over Cal State-East Bay.  The Seasiders completed the Hawaii Invitational Tournament unbeaten to start the season on a positive note.

BYUH Downs Adelphi

Laie, HI–The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team rallied from a first-game loss today to defeat Adelphi 3-1 to improve to 2-0 on the young season.  The Seasiders dropped the final two points of the opening game after being tied at 23-23 but took control the rest of the way to win 23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-20.

Seasiders Sting Yellowjackets in Opener

Laie, HI–Senior outside hitter Ane Vea powered 18 kills while hitting .484 to lead the Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s volleyball team to a season-opening 3-1 win over Montana State-Billings tonight.  The Seasiders got off to a shaky start, dropping the first game with just a .050 hitting percentage, but improved that percentage with each succeeding game and prevailed 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.
