Women's Tennis Reaps National Honors on Eve of Tourney

Laie, HI—A pair of Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis players and a coach received national awards last night at the banquet preceding the NCAA II National Tournament.  Yuan Jia picked up the National Senior Player of the Year honor and Sherry Liu received the National Rookie of the Year Award.  Both awards were presented by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

PacWest Champions Again

San Rafael, CA—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated 5th-ranked Hawaii Pacific 5-2 today to win the Pacific West Conference Tournament and improve to 26-0 for the season.  The Seasiders took two of the three doubles matches and then won three singles matches to end the day.

Seasiders Advance to Finals

San Rafael, CA—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated 42nd-ranked Academy of Art 5-0 today at the Pacific West Conference Tournament to improve to 25-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept the three doubles matches and then quickly won two singles matches to end the day.

Seasiders Open PacWest Tournament with Win

San Rafael, CA—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated Dominican 5-1 today to open the Pacific West Conference Tournament and improve to 24-0 for the season.  The Seasiders won two of the three doubles matches and then quickly won three singles matches to end the day.

Seasiders Blank Hilo

San Rafael, CA—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated UH-Hilo 6-0 today to improve to 23-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all six singles matches in straight sets and the doubles matches were not played.

San Francisco, CA—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated 42nd-ranked Academy of Art 9-0 today to improve to 22-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all three doubles matches and then won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Seasiders Roll On

Pensacola, FL—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated Lindenwood (MO) 9-0 today to improve to 21-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all three doubles matches easily, losing just a total of two games and then won all six singles matches while losing just a total of three games.

Seasiders Improve to 20-0

Pensacola, FL—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated Valdosta State 5-0 today to improve to 20-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all three doubles matches easily and then won two singles matches and the match was halted at that point.

Seasiders Pound Delta State

Pensacola, FL—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated Delta State today to improve to 19-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all three doubles matches easily and then did the same for all six singles matches for the win.

Seasiders Topple Ninth-Ranked West Florida

Pensacola, FL—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated ninth-ranked West Florida 7-2 today to improve to 18-0 for the season.  The Seasiders took two of the three doubles matches and then claimed five of the six singles matches for the win.

Seasiders Down Division I New Orleans

New Orleans, LA—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated Division I New Orleans 5-2 today to improve to 17-0 for the season.  The Seasiders took two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles’ point in the Division I scoring format and then claimed four of the six singles matches for the win.

Seasiders Sweep Two Matches

Montevallo, AL—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated Montevallo today 9-0 and ninth-ranked Clayton State 8-0 to improve to 16-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all three doubles handily in each match and won all the completed singles in straight sets.

Seasiders Improve to 14-0

Laie, HI—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated Chaminade today 8-1 to improve to 14-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all three doubles handily and then took five of the six singles matches in straight sets.

BYUH Sweeps Division I Illinois State

Laie, HI—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team swept Division I Illinois State today 7-0 to improve to 13-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all three doubles handily for the first point and then took all six singles matches in straight sets.

Seasiders Blast DI Bobcats

Laie, HI—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team swept Division I Montana State today 9-0 to improve to 12-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all three doubles handily and then took all six singles matches in straight sets.

Seasiders Sweep Vulcans Twice

Hilo, HI—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated UH-Hilo twice today 6-0 to improve to 11-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept all three doubles matches in each case and then finished off wins in three singles matches for the final score.  The matches were shortened because yesterday’s match was rained out and played as the earlier match today.

Seasiders Top HPU

Laie, HI—The second-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team defeated fifth-ranked Hawaii Pacific today 6-3 to improve to 9-0 for the season.  The Seasiders took two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches for the win.

Seasiders Sweep Again

Glendale, AZ—The Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team finished its road trip with two more wins today in Arizona.  The second-ranked Seasiders defeated 20th-ranked Cal State-LA 9-0 to start the day and followed that up with a 9-0 win over Montana State-Billings later in the day to improve to 8-0 for the season.
   

Seasiders Sweep Pair

Glendale, AZ—The Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team picked up two more wins today in Arizona.  The second-ranked Seasiders defeated Sonoma State 9-0 to start the day and followed that up with a 9-0 win over Dixie State later in the day to improve to 6-0 for the season.

Glendale, AZ—The Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team picked up two more wins today in Arizona.  The second-ranked Seasiders defeated Metro State 8-1 to start the day and followed that up with a 9-0 win over Academy of Art later in the day.

Seasiders Cruise to Two Wins to Open Season

Glendale, AZ—The Brigham Young University Hawaii’s women’s tennis team opened the season today with a pair of wins in Arizona.  The second-ranked Seasiders defeated 14th-ranked Grand Canyon 8-1 to start the day and followed that up with a 9-0 win over Western New Mexico later in the day.

Hwang Wins, Seasiders Withdraw to Honor the Sabbath

Mobile, AL—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Annie Hwang won the Division II singles title at the women’s USTA/ITA Small College Tournament today.  Hwang defeated Barbora Krtickova of Armstrong Atlantic State 6-4, 6-0 to claim the crown.

Hwang and Liu Take Doubles Title

Mobile, AL—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Annie Hwang and Sherry Liu swept their way to the Division II doubles title at women’s USTA/ITA Small College Tournament today.  Additionally, Hwang swept her way to tomorrow’s Division II singles championship in the tournament.  

Seasiders Complete Tournament with Wins

Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team found more success at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational today as they came away on top in all but one final.  The Seasiders picked up two singles wins and one loss and four doubles wins as play in the tournament concluded.

Seasiders Continue in Tournament

Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team continued play at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational today with more positive results.  The Seasiders picked up seven singles wins and three losses as only singles matches were played.

Seasiders Open Tournament

Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team opened play at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational today with mostly positive results.  The Seasiders picked up five singles wins and one doubles win to go with one loss in singles and one in doubles.

Hwang and Liu Dominate West Regionals

Los Angeles, CA—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Annie Hwang dominated singles play at the women’s USTA/ITA West Regional Tournament so it was fitting that she claimed the championship on a walkover when scheduled to face her teammate and doubles partner, Sherry Liu, in the final.  The Seasider duo then teamed up for an equally dominating win in the doubles championship.

Seasiders Roll at ITA Regionals

Los Angeles, CA—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Annie Hwang and Sherry Liu swept both their singles and doubles matches today at the women’s USTA/ITA West Regional Tournament.  The Seasiders both advanced to the semifinals in singles and moved through to the finals in doubles play.

Hwang and Liu Win at Regionals

Los Angeles, CA—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Annie Hwang and Sherry Liu won their opening matches today in both singles and doubles at the women’s USTA/ITA West Regional Tournament.  The Seasiders swept each lost just a one game in singles play and then lost just a single game in their doubles match win.

Elwen Li Boud Named NCAA Woman of the Year Finalist

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis player Hewenfei (Elwen) Li Boud has been named one of nine finalists for the 2011 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.  Boud, the ITA Senior Player of the Year, is one of only three finalists from Division II of the NCAA.
