San Francisco, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii's women’s cross country team finished ninth today at the NCAA II West Regional held in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. The Seasiders finished with a team score of 300 in the 25-team 6K meet. Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii's women’s cross country team successfully defended its Pacific West Conference title today, placing five runners in the top seven to total 22 points and claim the conference crown. The Seasiders finished 20 points ahead of second-place Hawaii Pacific. The Seasiders finished seventh last year at the NCAA II Regional Championships for the highest finish in the program’s NCAA history. The Seasiders, ranked seventh in the West Region in the latest rankings, placed five runners in the top 11 over the 4K course and finished with 38 team points to edge UH-Manoa by two points. The Seasiders, ranked seventh in the West Region in the pre-season rankings, withstood a challenge from Humboldt State, ranked tenth regionally, to claim the win with a team score of 49, three better than the Lumberjacks.
