2012 BYUH Mens Soccer Team

Puertas Honored by Conference

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer player James Puertas was awarded All-Conference Honorable Mention as a midfielder today by the Pacific West Conference.   The voting was done by the conference coaches and Puertas was the only Seasider honored after the Seasiders finished the year 5-8-3 for the season and 4-8-2 in the conference.

Seasiders Cap Season with Win

Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team defeated Chaminade 3-1 to today in a Pacific West Conference match to bring the season to a close on a high note.   The Seasiders out-shot the Silverswords 19-12 as they improved to 5-8-3 and for the season and 4-8-2 in the conference.

Seasiders Fall to Hawks

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team lost 3-2 to Holy Names today in a Pacific West Conference match.   The Seasiders were out-shot 21-7 but still kept the game close before falling to 4-8-3 and for the season and 3-8-2 in the conference.

BYUH Ties Dominican

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie in double overtime against Dominican today in a Pacific West Conference match.   The Seasiders out-shot the Penguins 19-12 but only four of the shots were on goal as the Seasiders’ record moved to 4-7-3 and for the season and 3-7-2 in the conference.

Waters and Nahoolewa Honored

Laie, HI—Two Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer players were honored by the Pacific West Conference today as part of the Fantastic 15 for their play last week.  Brett Waters and Chad Nahoolewa were recognized by the conference office for helping the Seasiders post a 1-1 mark during the week.

Nahoolewa Scores with One Second Left for Win

Hilo, HI—Chad Nahoolewa booted home a goal with one second to play to give the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team a 2-1 win over UH-Hilo today in a Pacific West Conference match.   Nahoolewa’s goal came off a corner kick by Brett Waters and found the back side of the net to give the Seasiders an improbable comeback win that improved the Seasiders’ record to 4-7-2 and for the season and 3-7-1 in the conference.

Waters Ties Game in Final Minute

Laie, HI—Brett Waters booted home a goal in the last minute of regulation play to give the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team a 1-1 tie with Bethesda today in a double-overtime, non-conference match.   Water’s goal, which came with just 49 seconds to play, helped mollify what was, otherwise, a frustrating day for the Seasiders.  The tie moved the Seasiders’ record to 3-7-2 for the season.

BYUH Falls to HPU

Kaneohe, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team lost to Hawaii Pacific 2-1 today in a Pacific West Conference match.   The Sea Warriors scored the game-winner with less than six minutes to play in the game to dash the hopes of the Seasiders, who fell to 3-7-1 for the season and 2-7-1 in the PacWest.

Vulcans Stop Seasiders

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team lost to UH-Hilo 1-0 today in a Pacific West Conference match.   The Seasiders out-shot the Vulcans 17-10 but could not put one into the net as they fell to 3-6-1 for the season and 2-6-1 in the PacWest.

Puertas Gets Second PacWest Honor

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer player James Puertas was honored by the Pacific West Conference today as part of the Fantastic 15 for his play last week.  It is the second time this season he has been honored.

Seasiders Fall to Azusa Pacific

Azusa, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team lost to Azusa Pacific 3-0 today in a Pacific West Conference road match.   With the loss, the Seasiders fell to 3-5-1 for the season and 2-5-1 in the PacWest.

Puertas, Lesueur Lift Seasiders to Upset Win in Overtime

Riverside, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team scored their second upset of the season today, defeating Cal Baptist 1-0 in overtime in a Pacific West Conference road match.   With the win, the Seasiders improved to 3-4-1 for the season and 2-4-1 in the PacWest.

Tough Loss for Seasiders

St. George, UT—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team lost another heartbreaker on the road today, falling to Dixie State 2-1 in a Pacific West Conference match on a goal with less than two minutes to play in the game.   With the loss, the Seasiders fell to 2-4-1 for the season and 1-4-1 in the PacWest.

Seasiders Fall in Overtime to 17th-Ranked Grand Canyon

Phoenix, AZ—For the second game in a row the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team put up a fierce battle against one of the conference powerhouses but, unlike last Saturday’s upset win over Notre Dame de Namur, the Seasiders fell just short today, losing to Grand Canyon 3-2 in overtime in a Pacific West Conference match on the road.  BYU-Hawaii forged a 2-2 tie late in regulation but could not sustain the momentum into the extra period and fell to 2-3-1 for the season and 1-3-1 in the PacWest.

Nahoolewa Honored

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer player Chad Nahoolewa was honored by the Pacific West Conference today as part of the Fantastic 15 for his play last week.  He helped the Seasiders post a 1-1 record for the week.

Nahoolewa Leads Seasiders to Upset Over Conference Leader

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team upset conference leader Notre Dame de Namur 2-1 today in a Pacific West Conference match in Laie.  Junior forward Chad Nahoolewa stunned the first-place Argonauts with a pair of first-half goals and the Seasiders held on for the win to improve to 2-2-1 for the season and 1-2-1 in the PacWest.

Seasiders Lose to Fresno Pacific

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team lost to Fresno Pacific 6-2 today in a Pacific West Conference match in Laie.  Fresno Pacific dominated the first half of the game, out-shooting the Seasiders 11-2 and taking a 5-1 lead into intermission that BYU-Hawaii could not recover from.

Seasiders Fall to Sea Warriors

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team lost to Hawaii Pacific 3-1 today in a Pacific West Conference match in Laie.  Hawaii Pacific dominated the game, out-shooting the Seasiders 24-9 and scoring all four goals in the game, including one into their own net.

Seasiders Settle for a Tie

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team battled Chaminade to a 0-0 tie today in the Pacific West Conference opener for both teams.  The Seasiders dominated the game statistically, holding a 15-5 edge in shots and a 7-1 edge in shots on goal, but could not come up with a goal.

Men's Soccer Downs Chaminade to Open Season

Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team defeated Chaminade 2-1 today in a non-conference match to open the season for the Seasiders.  The Silverswords scored the first goal of the game but the Seasiders came back with a pair of scores to claim the win.

Men Predicted for Ninth

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team is predicted to finish ninth in the 14-team Pacific West Conference this coming season according to a poll of the team’s coaches.  No BYU-Hawaii players were named to the pre-season All-Conference Team.
