Men's Basketball Signs Bay Area Standout
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team has signed 6-4 forward Solomone Wolfgramm of East Palo Alto, California and Pinewood High School. Wolfgramm was named the Peninsula Player of the Year by the Palo Alto Daily News after leading his team to a 27-3 record this past season.
Chang Nabs Another All-American Honor
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball player Jet Chang was named today to the Division II Bulletin All-American First Team for NCAA II. Chang was the only player from the Pacific West Conference named to any of the teams by the national magazine. The honor adds to Chang’s growing list. He was named First Team All-American earlier this month by Basketball Times and to the Daktronics All-America Second Team.

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball Head Coach Ken Wagner will be the head coach for the West All-Star team in tomorrow’s Reese’s® Division II College All-Star game held in Springfield, Massachusetts as part of the Elite Eight activities. Last year Wagner coached in the national championship game in Springfield and he will be on the sidelines a day earlier this year at the All-Star contest.

Chang was the only player from the Pacific West Conference named to the first team by the region’s coaches who vote for the team.
Chang Named PacWest Player of the Year, Funk and Ale Also Honored
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball player Jet Chang was named the Pacific West Conference Player of the Year today and placed on the All-Conference First Team. Junior Ale and Bracken Funk were both named to the All-Conference Second Team by the conference coaches.

Laie, HI—Two Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball players were named to the Pacific West Conference Honor Roll this week for their play in last week’s games. Bracken Funk and Gary Satterwhite were both tabbed for the honor after the Seasiders finished the season with two wins last week.
Satterwhite Leads Win in Last Game
Laie, HI—Senior Gary Satterwhite saved his best game for his last as he drained six three-pointers and scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team to a 74-70 win over Hawaii Pacific in a Pacific West Conference game on “Senior Night.” Satterwhite shot 7-9 from the field and 6-7 from long range and the Seasiders needed the boost to hold on for the win.
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team battled back from a 12-point first-half deficit to defeat Chaminade tonight 76-65 in a Pacific West Conference game. The Seasiders, who shot just 10-31 (32.3%) from the floor in the opening period, trailed 31-19 with five minutes to play in the first half but stormed back for the win.
Chang Honored for Seventh Time
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball player Jet Chang was named to the Pacific West Conference Honor Roll this week for his play in last week’s games. Chang was honored for the seventh time this season for his play in the Seasiders’ three road games last week.
Riverside, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team bounced back tonight with an 82-76 win over Cal Baptist to conclude a three-game road trip. The Seasiders shot over 60 percent from the field and from three-point range to out-gun the Lancers.
St. George, UT—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team didn’t make it easy for Dixie State to clinch the conference championship but finally succumbed to the Red Storm in a see-saw overtime game, 77-73 tonight on the road. With the win, Dixie State clinched the PacWest title and the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA II Tournament.
Cold Seasiders Fall to Grand Canyon
Phoenix, AZ—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team struggled to find the basket tonight as they lost to Grand Canyon 72-59 in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders shot just 35.8 percent (24-67) from the field, 25 percent (6-24) from three-point range, and 55.6 percent (5-9) from the free throw line.

Hot-Shooting Seasiders Scorch Penguins
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team shot a sizzling 62.7 percent (32-51) from the field tonight to defeat Dominican 80-72 in a Pacific West Conference game. The Seasiders led by just a point, 34-33, at halftime despite shooting 57.7 percent (15-26) in the opening period, but shot even better in the second stanza, hitting 68 percent (17-25) after the break to pull away to the victory.
Funk Player of the Week, Dastrup on Honor Roll
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball player Bracken Funk was named the Pacific West Conference Player of the Week for his part in the Seasiders’ two wins last week. Jake Dastrup was named to the PacWest Honor Roll this week for his play in last week’s games.
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team got a three-pointer from Pablo Coro on their first possession and never trailed as they defeated Notre Dame de Namur 92-75 tonight in a Pacific West Conference game. The Seasiders hit 11 three-pointers in the game and led by double digits most of the way as they avenged an earlier loss to the Argonauts.
Seasiders Eighteen Better Than Silverswords
Honolulu, HI—Eighteen proved to be a lucky number for the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team as they defeated Chaminade by that margin, 81-63, tonight in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders used three separate runs, scoring 18 points in each of them, to pull away from the Silverswords and remain tied for second place in the conference with a 9-2 conference mark.

San Rafael, CA—Junior Ale hit an NBA-range three-pointer with 7.4 seconds left to give the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team a come-from-behind 74-73 victory over Dominican tonight in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders, now 9-7 for the season and 6-1 in the PacWest, trailed 73-71 with Dominican at the free throw line for two shots with12 seconds to play, but the Penguins’ Ricky Wofford missed both freebies to set up Ale’s game-winner.

San Francisco, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team got back on track tonight with an 84-71 victory over Academy of Art in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders, now 8-7 for the season and 5-1 in the PacWest, trailed only once, at 7-6, as they forced 25 turnovers to spark the win.
Belmont, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team suffered a 71-70 defeat at the hands of Notre Dame de Namur tonight in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders, now 7-7 for the season and 4-1 in the PacWest, led 70-67 with over four minutes to play but were held scoreless the rest of the way as the Argonauts rallied for the win.
Ale Named Player of the Week by PacWest
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball player Junior Ale was named the Pacific West Conference Player of the Week for his performance in the Seasiders’ two games last week. Ale led the Seasiders to a pair of wins during the week to keep the Seasiders unbeaten in conference play. It is the second Player of the Week honor for Ale this season.
Laie, HI—Junior Ale scored eight points on two three-pointers and a steal followed by a layup and assisted on two other baskets during 13-3 run that took the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team from a 40-34 deficit to a 47-43 lead midway through the second half and the Seasiders went on to defeat Academy of Art 76-56 tonight in a Pacific West Conference game.
Satterwhite Hits Game-Winning Three-Pointer
Honolulu, HI—Gary Satterwhite hit a three-pointer with just four seconds to play to give the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team a come-from-behind 62-60 win over Hawaii Pacific tonight in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders, now 6-6 for the season and 3-0 in the PacWest, took the lead for the first time in the second half on Satterwhite’s clutch shot and Junior Ale stole the Sea Warrior’s inbounds pass to seal the victory.

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team used a 35-7 run over the space of eight minutes in the second half to spark an 81-63 win over UH-Hilo tonight in Pacific West Conference play. The Seasiders, now 5-6 for the season and 2-0 in the PacWest, went from a 35-34 deficit with just under 19 minutes to play in the second half to a 69-44 lead with 10:35 to play and then cruised to the win.
Records Set in Seasider Victory
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team broke four school records tonight as they defeated Northwest Indian College (WA) 126-86 in the Cannon Activities Center in a non-conference game. The Seasiders broke records for most points scored, most rebounds, most field goals, and for most points scored in the Cannon Center as they improved to 4-6 for the season.

Satterwhite, Hurst Spark Comeback Win in Conference Opener
Hilo, HI—Gary Satterwhite and Brady Hurst sparked a ten-point second half run that propelled the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team to a come-from-behind 76-72 win over UH-Hilo in the Pacific West Conference opener for both teams tonight. With the victory the Seasiders improved to 2-5 for the season and 1-0 in the PacWest.
Seasiders Lose to Division I Long Beach State
Long Beach, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team played a strong first half against Division I Long Beach State tonight, but was outscored 47-15 in the second half as they lost 79-43 to fall to 1-5 for the season. The Seasiders trailed by just four, 32-28, at halftime but Long Beach State scored the first ten points of the second half and ran away from the Seasiders.

Ale Sinks Game-Winner at Buzzer
Laie, HI—Junior guard Junior Ale drained a three-pointer from well behind the line as the buzzer sounded to give the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team its first win of the season, 66-65, over Alaska-Fairbanks tonight. Ale, who was 0-3 from behind the arc prior to the final shot, took an inside-out pass from Brady Hurst on the right wing and coolly dropped it in from NBA range for the win as the Seasiders improved to 1-4 for the season.

Bellingham, WA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team lost its fourth straight game to open the season, dropping a 88-69 contest to Western Washington on the road tonight. The Seasiders, now 0-4 for the season, were down by five at the half, 36-34, came back to take a brief lead early in the second half, but could not sustain the momentum.
Seattle, WA—The third-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team lost its third straight game to open the season, dropping a 76-65 contest to 22nd-ranked Seattle Pacific in Seattle as part of the GNAC/PacWest Challenge. The Seasiders, now 0-3 for the season, were down by two at the half, 36-34, took the lead early in the second half, but fell victim to a 16-0 Seattle Pacific run.

Seasiders Struggle in Opener at BYU
Provo, UT—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team opened the regular season tonight with a 73-52 loss on the road at Division I BYU. The Seasiders fell behind 21-3 to open the game and were never able to recover. BYU-Hawaii trailed 40-17 at halftime but did outscore the Cougars 35-33 in the second half.
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team defeated Zhejiang University of China tonight 100-68 as part of the American Money Group Asia-Pacific Basketball Tournament. The Seasiders opened up a 51-35 halftime and won easily in their final tune-up before opening the season at BYU on Tuesday.

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team opened the exhibition season tonight with a 109-76 win over New Zealand Maori as part of the American Money Group Asia-Pacific Basketball Tournament. The Seasiders opened up a 51-45 halftime lead but widened the lead early in the second half and won going away.

Laie, HI—As President Barack Obama prepares to visit Hawaii as part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting, another Asia-Pacific meeting is getting set to take place on the Island of Oahu. Just up the road from Honolulu, in the beautiful seaside community of Laie, the American Money Group Asia-Pacific Basketball Tournament will take place November 8th-12th in the Cannon Activities Center at Brigham Young University-Hawaii.

Laie, HI—The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has tabbed the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team as the third-ranked Division II team in the nation in its pre-season college basketball poll. The ranking matches the Division II Bulletin which ranked the Seasiders third in its pre-season poll and the Seasiders’ Jet Chang as the pre-season NCAA II Player of the Year. The Sporting News and Basketball Times both ranked the Seasiders fifth earlier in the pre-season and tabbed Chang as a pre-season All-American.

Brad Barton, Former Seasider, Passes Away
Laie, HI—Former Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball player Brad Barton was found dead at his Price, Utah apartment on Tuesday. Barton played for the Seasiders for two seasons, 1998-99 and 1999-2000 before transferring to Weber State for his final two years.
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team has signed three players to join the Seasiders for the upcoming season. Brady Hurst, a 6-8 transfer from College of Eastern Utah, Pablo Quitral, a 6-3 transfer from Weber State, and Zach Ngawaka, a 6-5 transfer from Mt. San Jacinto College will all be suiting up for the Seasiders this year.
