Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team has signed 6-5 forward Tyler Tuliau of Las Vegas, Nevada and 6-4 guard Scott Friel of Riverton, Utah to play for the Seasiders next season. Tuliau played the past two seasons as Long Beach City College after playing high school ball at Cimarron-Memorial High School in Las Vegas while Friel played one season for Southern Utah before serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Seasiders Fall in Tournament Semifinal
Azusa, CA—The season came to an end for the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team tonight as the Seasiders lost to conference champion Dixie State 71-59 in the semifinals of the inaugural Pacific West Conference post-season tournament. The fifth-seeded Seasiders, who finish 16-12 for the season, shot a season low 33.8 percent (22-65) from the field and were particularly cold in the second half (8-35, 22.9%) while the Red Storm shot 50 percent (23-46) from the field for the game.
Seasiders Survive First-Round Nail-Biter
Azusa, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team overcame its worst shooting performance of the season and Bracken Funk hit two clutch free throws with nine seconds left to play as the Seasiders outlasted Dominican 65-64 in the opening round of the inaugural Pacific West Conference post-season tournament. The fifth-seeded Seasiders, now 16-11 for the season, shot just 37.5 percent (21-56) from the field but held Dominican to a season-worst 32.8 percent (19-58) to advance to the second round of the tournament.
Ale First Team All-PacWest, Medlock Second Team
Azusa, CA—Brigham Young University Hawaii senior Okesene “Junior” Ale has been named to the Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball All-Conference First Team for his play this season. The announcement, released by the conference during today’s inaugural PacWest post-season tournament, also honored junior DeAndre Medlock of BYU-Hawaii as an All-Conference Second Team member.
Ale Matches Career High in Senior Night Win
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team came back from a nine-point second-half deficit to defeat UH-Hilo91-86 tonight in the final Pacific West Conference game of the regular season. The Seasiders, now 15-11 for the season and 12-6 in the PacWest will now prepare for next week’s inaugural PacWest post-season tournament where they will be the fifth seed.
Phoenix, AZ—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team gave conference co-leader Grand Canyon a fierce battle tonight before succumbing to the Antelopes’ free throw barrage 75-73 in overtime in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders battled back from a nine-point second-half deficit and had a shot to win in both regulation and overtime before falling to 14-11 for the season and 11-6 in the PacWest.
Seasiders Defeat Conference Leader
St. George, UT—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team knocked off the top team in the Pacific West Conference tonight with a tough, 80-75 road victory over Dixie State. The Seasider win gave Dixie State its first home loss of the season and dropped the Red Storm into a first-place tie with Chaminade and Grand Canyon while improving the Seasiders’ record to 14-10 for the season and 11-5 in the PacWest.
Seasiders Secure Conference Tournament Berth with Win Over Azusa Pacific
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team clinched a spot in the first-ever Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament tonight with a 77-69 victory over Azusa Pacific. With the win, the Seasiders are assured of finishing among the top six of the nine teams that qualify for the inaugural tournament, which will be held on the campus of Azusa Pacific March 7-9. The winner of the conference tournament will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA II West Regional Tournament.
Ale and Coro Lead Seasiders to Victory
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii senior guard Junior Ale hit three three-pointers in just a minute-and-three-seconds stretch of the first half to vault the BYU-Hawaii men’s basketball team from a 27-25 deficit to a 34-27 lead and Pablo Coro scored a career-high 24 points as the Seasiders defeated Cal Baptist 89-73 tonight in a Pacific West Conference game. BYU-Hawaii finished the first half on a 26-8 run over the final 7:18 of the period, fueled by Ale’s blitz and a trio of three-pointers by Coro as the Seasiders led 46-33 at the break en route to improving to 12-10 for the season and 9-5 in the PacWest.
Ale Ignites Big Second-Half Surge as Seasiders Win
Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii senior guard Junior Ale scored 11 of his game-high 26 points during a 16-0 run to open the second half to propel the BYU-Hawaii men’s basketball team to a 75-49 win over Point Loma Nazarene tonight in a Pacific West Conference game. Ale drained two three-pointers, a layup, a jumper, and a free throw in the run that vaulted the Seasiders from a 31-29 halftime lead to a 47-29 margin that effectively put the game away as BYU-Hawaii improved to 11-10 for the season and 8-5 in the PacWest.
Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball suffered a 75-64 defeat at Chaminade tonight in a Pacific West Conference game. The Seasiders trailed throughout the contest as they fell to 10-10 for the season and 7-5 in the PacWest.
Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball rallied back from a ten-point deficit late in the game and went on to a tough, 85-84 win in overtime against Hawaii Pacific tonight in a Pacific West Conference game. The Seasiders trailed 67-57 with just 2:06 to play in regulation but staged a comeback to force overtime and went on to improve to 10-9 for the season and 7-4 in the PacWest.

Hilo, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team lost to UH-Hilo 77-76 tonight in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders held a ten-point lead, 70-60, with six minutes to play but couldn’t hold on as they fell to 9-8 for the season and 6-3 in the PacWest.
Fresno, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team lost to Fresno Pacific 92-83 tonight in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders held a ten-point lead, 43-33, at halftime but couldn’t hold on as they fell to 9-7 for the season and 6-2 in the PacWest.
Belmont, CA—Freshman guard B.J. Ford hit eight three-pointers to lead the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team to a 73-56 win over Notre Dame de Namur tonight in a Pacific West Conference road game. Ford came within one three-pointer of the all-time BYU-Hawaii record as his 26 points helped the Seasiders improve to 9-6 for the season and 6-1 in the PacWest.
New Zealand Star Signs with Seasiders
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team has signed 6-6 forward Jordan Ngatai of Elsdon, New Zealand and Sierra College (CA) to play for the Seasiders next season. Ngatai played against BYU-Hawaii as part of the New Zealand Maori team during the 2011 Asia-Pacific Tournament in Laie.
Oakland, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team used a 19-5 run early in the first half to open up a 25-11 lead and went on to defeat Holy Names tonight on the road, 94-68, in a Pacific West Conference game. The Seasiders shot 56.3 percent (36-64) from the field and held the Hawks to just 37.7 percent (23-61) as they improved to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in the PacWest.
San Rafael, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team lost to Dominican tonight on the road, 80-75, in a Pacific West Conference game. The Seasiders led most of the first half but were tied 45-45 at the half and fell behind early in the second period as they fell to 7-6 overall and 4-1 in the PacWest.
Seasiders Light Up Urban Knights
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team scored the first 12 points of the game and never let up on the way to a 107-70 win over Academy of Art tonight in a Pacific West Conference game. The Seasiders led by 27 points, 55-28, at halftime and by as many as 41 points in the second half as they improved to 7-5 overall and 4-0 in the PacWest.
Medlock Paces Win with 31 Points
Laie, HI—Junior center DeAndre Medlock poured in 31 points to lead the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team to a 76-66 win over Notre Dame de Namur tonight in a Pacific West Conference game. Medlock scored on a dazzling array of soft hook shots and powerful dunks to help the Seasiders improve to 6-5 for the season and 3-0 in the PacWest.
Funk, Ford, and Medlock Combine for 66 Points in Win
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team opened the new year with a 94-75 win over conference newcomer Holy Names tonight in a Pacific West Conference game. The Seasiders shot a blistering 59.4 percent (38-64) from the field and out-rebounded the Hawks 42-25 as they improved to 5-5 for the season and 2-0 in the PacWest.
Long Beach, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team lost to Division I Long Beach State 82-65 today in a non-conference road game. The Seasiders trailed 43-32 at halftime but could get no closer than seven points in the second half as they fell to 4-5 for the season with the loss.

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team defeated Urbana (OH) tonight 103-88 in a non-conference game in the Cannon Center. For the second game in a row five players scored in double figures in a balanced attack as the Seasiders improved to 4-3 for the season with the win.
Seasiders Beat HPU to Open Conference Season
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team started the Pacific West Conference season on a positive note today, defeating Hawaii Pacific 83-74. Five players scored in double figures in a balanced attack as the Seasiders improved to 3-3 for the season and 1-0 in the conference.

Laie, HI—Senior guard Junior Ale scored nine of Brigham Young University Hawaii’s last 11 points as the Seasiders held on for a 97-92 victory over Montana State-Billings in men’s basketball tonight. Ale’s clutch shooting thwarted a Yellowjacket rally as the Seasiders improved to 2-3 for the season.

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team suffered through a miserable first half and could not completely recover as it fell to ninth-ranked Seattle Pacific 71-54 tonight as part of the GNAC/PacWest Challenge. The Seasiders trailed 36-15 at halftime as they fell to 0-3 for the season.

Seasiders Come Up Short Against Sixth-Ranked Vikings
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team battled the defending national champions all the way tonight, but ultimately fell short, losing to sixth-ranked Western Washington 84-78 in the opening game of the regular season for the Seasiders. The Seasiders missed 11 free throws in the game to just three misses for the Vikings and that proved to be the difference.
Laie, HI—Senior guard Junior Ale took over down the stretch to lead the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team to a physical 93-85 win over New Zealand Maori tonight as part of the annual Asia-Pacific Tournament. Ale scored nine of the Seasiders last 11 points as BYU-Hawaii broke away from an 84-84 tie capture the victory.
Seasiders Projected for Third Place
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team was voted to the number three position in the Pacific West Conference pre-season coaches’ poll and two Seasiders were named to the conference pre-season All-Conference team. The Seasiders were given two first-place votes by the 14 conference coaches and finished behind Grand Canyon and Dixie State in the voting.
Seasiders Open Asia-Pacific Tournament with Win
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team opened its exhibition season with a 90-58 win over Ningbo University of China tonight as part of the annual Asia-Pacific Tournament. The Seasiders opened up a 44-23 halftime lead and cruised to the win with all 15 players on the roster seeing action.
Seasiders Sign Player for the Future
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team has signed 6-3 guard Tanner Nelson of Camas, Washington and Union High School to play for the Seasiders beginning with the 2014-15 season. Nelson, who just graduated from Union this year, plans on postponing his collegiate career for two years while he serves as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team has signed 6-10 forward DeAndre Medlock of Fresno, California and Clovis West High School. Medlock also played briefly for UC-Davis in the 2009-10 season and played this last season for Fresno City College.
Men's Basketball Signs Bay Area Standout
Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s basketball team has signed 6-4 forward Solomone Wolfgramm of East Palo Alto, California and Pinewood High School. Wolfgramm was named the Peninsula Player of the Year by the Palo Alto Daily News after leading his team to a 27-3 record this past season.
